SECTION 02
The Quirks
Control layout is all rotary dials — bass, treble, volume, balance — rather than the sliders most of its 1970s competitors used. It reads more like a piece of Philips consumer electronics than a piece of studio gear, which tracks, since that’s exactly what it is.
Three speeds cover a wide range, but the bottom one at 1⅞ ips is really there for long-form voice recording rather than music, in the same spirit as several other decks in this collection.
